oh yeah, this was my first "live" world record! :)

pics and videos are starting to be posted on the internet. I unfortunately don't have anything since I was playing, so I have to search for this stuff.

signing autographs after I made the wr, this attendee went to buy the game just so that I can sign it!

500,000+ (already beat the previous wr)

flipping the score and the crowd went nuts!!

this ustream was filmed live on vgevo.com, afterwards members were asking me quesitons.

the best video yet, this one shows most of my game, shows the score when I passed the previous wr, shows when I flipped the score, shows the award ceremony plus the ref saying my score and Dan Loosen stating this will be a Twin Galaxies world record!

Todd Rogers did have the hs on this, with 1,516,900. But a few years ago some of his scores were removed and AFAIK no reason(s) were given as to why.

Nevertheless, great score zimmzamm!

thanks for the info stonic! yeah, i was thinking that this would be one of Todd's games. i thought it was strange when i did not see his name listed on the scoreboard. wow, that really sucks! i wonder why? cool, i got really close to his score then. i will shoot for that next time.

thanks for the kind words.

Were there any other world records set live at this event?

I don't think so. at least I did not hear about any others. I was there for the pinball awards ceremony and the organizer did not say anything about a wr, unlike what he said for my game.

I can ask him though.

ZimmZamm...I was also wondering if you went to the Midwest Gaming Classic with the knowledge that you would be attempting this world record run, or if it was just set up and you decided to go for it!

Also, what was your previous personal best?

thanks jmb! :)

yeah, it was a really great moment! I enjoy the 2600 version. besides that, I think I played the arcade version before.

sorry to hear you could not make MGC. it was for sure the best show ever! tons of vendors, arcades, pinballs, tournaments. museum was even bigger than ever! it was quite incredible. I am sure there were 5000+ attendees for both days. it was tough to move around. they should be moving into an even bigger location next year.

I am going to do "Beat the Champ" at Video Game Summit in IL in July. and also I am going to try to beat my MGC score live at VGS, so maybe you (and everyone else) can make the show?

it is a very small show, but it is still quite fun.

to tell you the truth Drew, nope, I had no clue that I would be attempting the world record. but, I did look at the scores before I left for the event.

I only played the game at home for a few days the week before the event. at home my high was 150,000, which I thought was still a good score, since that would be 3rd on the scoreboard. day 1 at the event I got 130,000. next 2 players doubled my score, so I thought I had no chance. decided to try it again on day 2, only hoping to beat their scores. during this game I beat their scores without dieing, so I knew it would be a good game! right before the world record I lost my first life. I kept going and the ref told me to try to get 600,000 just to be safe for a while. right there and then I decided to not only do that, but to try to double the wr. so, in the end I more than doubled the wr. and I think it was from 800,000 to 1,124,779 I did not have any lives yet, so it was pretty intense. at that time there was a big crowd and I know they all wanted me to break the 1 million mark. still can't believe I did it, especially with no lives left! I was for sure "in the zone." ;)

I think Todds score of 1.5 mil will be surpassed shortly.
